Yeah, lost a few players, Clayborn didn't really come back to play. Defense caved a lot due to the DC refusing to play nickel or dime against spread and air raid offenses. The OC also did a poor job of play calling in high pressure situations. With the guys Iowa had, there was no reason they couldn't have worked sideline routes late in games rather than waiting for guys to get open downfield and getting creamed in the backfield.
Don't underestimate an Alabama defense.
