iF HE IS TRYING TO GET oob, his helmet would be faced OOB, not upfield. Hell, he tries to make a move on the defender and get more yards.

Given the situation on that play, I don't think the pass to the RB was a bad decision, necessarily, though throwing the ball away might have been a better decision.
In the moment he probably hoped the RB could get OOB, but their was a lot of ground to cover for the RB to get there.
The LB on that play had the angle and had the RB dead to rights.
The RB looked to make a move to get some space to run to the sideline.
Had he not, he had no chance to get there.
He never had a chance anyway, but he did head to the sidelines.
