The Patriot way is Bill Belichick, all these people from the Patriot tree think they can just clone people into being like him it doesn't work like that, if you're a douche whos got 5 rings nobody can say anything if they don't agree with you, if you're Todd Haley well you're just Todd Haley, same with Josh McDaniels ect ect.
Scott Pioli was no guru, he was just another voice in Bill Belichicks ear, if you think Scott Pioli was drafting players without input from Belichick then well you're crazy, he was just one of few people BB listened to, it obviously helped having suggestions from Pioli but without BB a huge part of the puzzle is missing.
