God, in his mercy, cares about everything and everybody.
He is the Creator of all things, large and small. He made the great, mysterious Universe and the tiny, little gnats the buzz around your face when you are working on your shrubberies that irritate the living hell out of you and you can't kill because you can't even see the damn things and besides He made about 100 billion of the little bastards things and they must breed like itsy, bitsy, flying rabbits.
So, of course he cares about football. That's why when the Hunts sold their soul to the Devil back in the early days of the oil fields, He decided to send one of them to Kansas City to punk our asses.
