My father was diagnosed with lung cancer in 96.. in fact, had his right lung removed. In 2003 he was diagnosed with cancer in his remaining lung, and had radiation to burn away the bottom 3rd of it... he finally passed away in January of this year.. 15 years after the first diagnosis....
Never good news, and never a good thing to hear, but the best thing to do is to remember to help her keep her spirit up, and to remember that there is always hope. Completely agnostic myself... however, I think as long as we have hope we're always doing what we can. My Dad taught me to be that way.
You will have my prayers for what they are worth, and my hope as well. Best wishes for all.
