1st: have it hooked up to a reader on the check engine light. Volvo check engine lights are notorious for going off from poor gas cap seals and minor crap like that.
2nd: is she going to have someone to work on it other than a Volvo dealership? That gets expensive.
We owned a 1998 Volvo V70XC. Nothing but problems. That being said, our mechanic (who works on nothing but Volvos and is a complete Volvo nerd) hates the AWD models of Volvos and says they're utter shit.
