He was okay as a coach in Buffalo--probably left before we really knew what he was capable of. My concern is that he, like so many coaches we seem to be interested, are very big on a very run heavy offense. His roots, after all, are with Cowher's smash mouth offense.

The Falcons became more pass-oriented this year. Matt Ryan finished 10th in passing attempts per game, ahead of guys like Rodgers, Romo, and Roethlisberger. What impresses me most is that Mularkey realized that the strength of the Falcons had become the passing game, with Turner starting to fall apart (his play fell off considerably after week 11 or so). It shows that he isn't too stubborn to try things one way when it's obvious there's a better solution.
