No. I know it is the trend to try and criticize everything Pioli does, but he's been smart with the cap so far. According to Clark, they capitalized on having a very young team with a bunch of cheaper contracts for the last few years by re-upping some of their key players, and instead of just throwing money at random players to fill out the roster (Think Carl going out and getting Carlton Gray and handing Dan Williams a huge deal) they used that extra cap room to carry over what he called "cap credits" to this year. He also indicated that over the next two years, the Chiefs are in a position, both in terms of the cap, and in terms of the maturity of their team to be in a position to add key pieces through free agency, to go out and target the guys we need to take us to the next level.
Now of course this could be all talk and the proof will be in the pudding. There have to be good free agents out there to sign, as opposed to the relatively weak FA class of last year. And there is no excuse for not bringing Bowe and Carr back, so those better get done. But we're in a real good position right now, and we've got a head coach in place that most players actually wouldn't mind playing for, as opposed to Haley and his rep...
