The Miami Dolphins won a coin flip for the right to pick eighth in the first round of April's NFL Draft, beating out the Carolina Panthers, who will pick ninth.
The Kansas City Chiefs won the second and final coin toss Friday, and they will now pick 11th. The Chiefs outflipped (outcalled?) the Seahawks, who will pick 12th.
The Panthers and Dolphins had identical 6-10 records and strength-of-schedule. Likewise the Seahawks and Chiefs, who both finished 7-9.
Friday's results mean that the order of the 2012 NFL Draft is officially set. Accordingly, the Colts, who hold the No. 1 pick, are now free to sign the player they intend to choose. The team with the first overall pick is the only team permitted to sign a player before the draft.
The first round of the draft is April 26 in New York.
