Seahawks Promise Peyton Manning Shot At Starting Job

SEATTLE-The Seahawks are making a hard push for quarterback Peyton Manning, who has just been released by the Colts and is now a free agent. In an effort to convince Manning to sign with the Seahawks, coach Pete Carroll has guaranteed him a shot at the starting job currently held by Tarvaris Jackson. “Peyton will absolutely be competing for the starting job if he signs here,” said Carroll. "We're going to have an open competition in camp between him, Tarvaris, and Charlie Whitehurst. He'll be given equal consideration with all of them. If he has the best camp, the job is his. If not, Tarvaris or Charlie will go in there, and Peyton will just have to be ready when his number is called.”
