Alex Smith has much more talent than Cassel.
He has the arm to push the ball downfield and provide enough of a threat to open things up underneath for the RBs. In other words, he's a legitimate game-manager.
Cassel just sucks dicks.
So Alex Smith would prove to be way too good for Pioli to bring in.
