I think many people on this board don't watch the Niners. Last year Smith was money. The year before he was fairly good. He is a better QB than Cassel, hands down. Just compare their college careers.
It often takes a long time for QBs to get good in this league, but Smith has more to work with and sees the field much better than ol' Mattie.

And for those who say that Smith's year last year was a fluke because of Harbaugh, what does that say about Luck?
