You're wrong.
The defensive line faces systemic disadvantages in the 3-4 that no other position on a defense faces, with the possible exception of corner.
You're outnumbered, out-sized, and responsible for more space than your 4-3 counterparts. You have the size of a defensive tackle but you're not taking on smaller, less athletic, less talented guards and centers, you're taking on extremely athletic and more powerful tackles. And unlike the nose tackle, a great DE can stay in all three downs.
If anything, it's like the left tackle of the defense.
