I really liked the draft that the chiefs had, they filled areas with depth and competition. The one pick that needed figured out where a starter wasnt already penciled in was NT which although I wasnt happy with the pick of Poe who am I to say that he cant surprise us all.
The 2 picks in the 2nd day were necesarry. Ryan Lilja is a free agent after this season so the need to have his replacement in place was there and a good pick in Jeff Allen.
Donald Stephenson in the 3rd was also a great pick because we dont have a swing tackle on the roster, he can backup Left and Right. Sure there is goin to be a concern that if one of the starting tackles goes down can he step in and get the job done, time will only tell, he is a developmental player but also was a pretty highly rated offensive tackle goin into the draft.
The pick of Wylie caught my attention, I really didnt expect that pick, and to be honest I think Turbin and Cousins was penciled to be that pick but they went before the Chiefs had a chance to take them. So im holding out hope that it turns out to be a great pick.
DeQuan Menzie and Cyrus Gray, positions that needed depth. We all saw what happened when Berry went down and Charles so the need for a safety and running back was there even though we signed hillis. The days of seeing Donald Washington filling in on the field I hope is over, cause he sucks, so does McGraw and Piscitelli.
The final two picks. Jerome Long caught my attention, it was one of those wtf picks, never heard of him, so anybodys guess is as good as mine. Now on the other hand I had never heard of Junior Hemingway but after reading up on him, the more and more i like this pick. This guy is a tough, physical receiver and blocker that has some promise and will replace Copper.
This draft is summed up in these words, depth and competition, that was the moto goin into the draft and i have a great feeling bout this draft and these players, and cant wait till the games start. Go Chiefs !!!
