The article quoted in the OP didn't say he slapped the kid. It said he punched the kid.
A 10 year old kid doesn't deserve to get punched in the face by an adult for being loud and obnoxious in a movie theater. There is no defending the adult's behavior. He needs to serve some jail time for assault and battery. If he did that to my kid, I'd wind up in jail for assault and battery, but at least the "victim" would be an adult.

A slap might knock out a baby tooth, especially if it was already loose. And actually, the story says hit, slap, smack
and punch. So who knows what really happened?
