Excellent point. Any decent pitching staff should need their pen for 2 innings. 3 at the very tops. I've never liked the whole starter\setup\closer mentality anyway. Call me old school. You ahve starters and you have firemen. It's that simple. Perhaps with a bias for someone to finish out a game.
But this 6 inning "quality start", 100 pitch countm bs is just that. You're a ****ing starter. It's your game until you get into trouble and can't pitch out of it. Then you bring in a fireman and he pitches until he gets in trouble. None of this, this guy pitches one inning, that guy pitches one inning then we have a closer come in despite how good the other guy in front of him may have been doing.
