Fan participation has to be genuine, and earned by the home team. When the PR Wanks co-op it, and start marketing it, ie "Loudest Stadium in the NFL," it takes the spontaneity and genuine quality out of it.
There's nothing I hate more than the company expecting me to cheer when the team keeps throwing six yard passes on third and nine. And every year, I always see some drunken fanboi trying to rally the crowd to get off their asses and make noise... usually when we're getting beat by three TDs.
