Pioli's not getting fired.
We can all cite The Top 50 Epic Fails of Scott Pioli without missing a beat, but he still has cred to 99% of the NFL world. He's gotta do a belly flop in front of the whole party and then walk away sobbing with a pink belly before people get the picture. Otherwise Pioli sycophants like Peter King would eat Clark alive for being an overreactionary with unrealistic expectations.
"Sure, Pioli could have found a better QB. But hey, they don't grow on trees, you know. And I'm sure upgrading that spot would have been his top priority this offseason. And, yes, Todd Haley was a mistake. But who could have seen that coming? The truth is the Chiefs had dug themselves a very deep hole, and if Hunt thought Pioli or anyone else could have dug them out of it this quickly, then he's delusional. PS, Mr. Hunt, good luck getting any legitimate GM prospects to sit down with you after not even giving the almighty Scott F. Pioli a legitimate chance."
