A lot of other ways. Of course depends on your problem with the place. If it is an attitude customer treatment type issue that is isolated to the server then yes do the no or little tip thing.
However there are often a lot of things that come up that are out of the servers hands.
It'd be like SOC directing their ire at the guys who collect money for parking instead of Pioli.
