Also, she wasn’t the judge, jury, and executioner on any of her cases, she was just one person involved in it.

I'm not thinking conspiracy theory here....but you have to admit that doing any investigations concerning a school that you attended left it open for questions.
She could have done an admirable job (which it appears she was a little overzealous on some investigations) and still have had someone question the ethics of being involved investigating a university she attended, whether post-grad or not.
