Alex Smith made a lot of strides this year. He was actually throwing it to his receivers (something he struggled with the first Harbaugh year) and outside of 1 horrible game he had a few 'I didn't realize he could do that!' games as well.
He absolutely played like an elite QB @ Arizona for one...and I'm sorry, I realize Jim Harbaugh is a great coach and I realize Smith was surrounded with a SURPLUS of talent but you can't tell me Jim Harbaugh could take Matt Cassel and turn him into what Alex Smith was this year.
and Smith was benched after going 18-19 @ Arizona (a really good pass defense) with 3 TD's and then starting a game @ the Rams (an underrated defense) 8-9 with a TD.
Hey, I really want Geno...but I'm a Chiefs fan so I'm used to this garbage. I can't quit this team so it's not even worth trying.
I'd rather have Geno but 5 years of Trent Green clone isn't the WORST thing that has ever happened to us.
I realize it is frustrating, I'm frustrated. I really hope this isn't true.
and then when it is true...I'm really going to hope we can trade down and still take Geno, even though I realize that will be the biggest pipe dream ever.

I completely agree.
And I'll still be livid if we don't draft Geno in addition to Alex - which we know won't happen.
Or
at least extract a hefty ransom out of the Eagles or someone else for that 1.1 and take someone like Floyd; a potential difference maker.
But do you think that's going to happen? No, of course it isn't. If we take Alex Smith, we're taking that overrated schmuck who's probably going to be the 3rd best tackle in the draft behind Fisher and Lane Johnson when all is said and done.
This move, in a vacuum, could be a good one. But the Chiefs will **** it up because the Chiefs
always **** it up.
