Good GMs trade down to the spot where they can still select that player and pick upmore picks tio help you.
That is what Baalke has done. Thats what Belichick does. Thats what Jimmy Johnson did. Thats what Bill Walsh did.
Little known fact: The 49ers were attempting to move down to the 9th, 10th, or 11th pick to take Aldon Smith so they could get the same player and accumulate more picks because they knew the other teams wouldn't take him. They couldn't get a deal so took him at 7.
If the Chiefs were really smart they could trade out of the top pick and try to land Geno where they think he might be projected to go and pick up alot more picks to fill more holes. The CBA makes that trade much easier than it used to be.
The draft is an art. Panicking and taking guys way above where they should be picked is an Al Davis move.
