most, if not all of the Geno-types (© ) bitched about Orton's abilities before he played for the Chiefs, and I think you agree Orton was tons better than matt cackle, so why not plug Alex Smith in for a few seasons. There are guys on this team that are going to begin losing abilities due as they age -- guys like Tamba & DJ, Colquitt & others.
I don't know if the staff is thinking this way now, but they might be. They could groom Geno for a few seasons too.

Trust me when i tell you that I am not parroting anyone. Just because myself and others have used the same deductive reasoning and have come to the same conclusions does not mean we are "parroting".
The fact that you think we are "parroting" tells me that you, YOURSELF, think that you are the minority and thinking outside of the box when it's quite the opposite.
With that said....
You're worried about wasting the final few years of guys like DJ and Tamba, who in all honesty, may have already seen their best days, while not taking into consideration guys like Berry and Houston. You're also assuming that Alex Smith is going to come here and be a winner, when the majority of the evidence points to the contrary. You seem to think that winning now (for about 1-2 years) is more important than winning 1-2 years from now and for the next 10+ years.
You're also assuming that Geno Smith/Matt Barkley can't come in here and have some immediate success.
