According to Rapoport, the Cardinals believe the Chiefs are "closing in" on a deal for Colin Kaepernick's backup. Rapoport also reports the Browns are "said to have some interest." It's clear Sunday's report that a trade was "effectively complete" was bogus, but the Chiefs are very much the leader in the clubhouse. Smith would be a poor fit in Bruce Arians' highly-vertical system.

Here's something to think about.
1)Why would the cardinals or the Chiefs be looking at Alex Smith as a starter when his skill set doesn't really fit either Reid or Arians style of offense?
2) if the Cardinals don't think they can get Alex, they wouldn't want to drive the price up on him...that is counterproductive and beneficial to. Division foe.
