Look, all this posturing about "Only first round QB's can win a Super Bowl" is just nonsense. Yet when Brees or Kaepernick or other 2nd round QB's are brought up, that's different. While I agree, the problem is that we don't have a 2nd round pick anymore (probably) and I doubt we use our 3rd on a QB after spending 34 for Smith. Landry Jones in the 4th or 5th round, yippie.
Again, it's clear that Reid and Dorsey aren't comfortable with this year's crop of QB's. It's been said over and over and over again that this is a weak class. There are faults with every QB. So for them to trade for Smith shouldn't be a surprise or a shock, nor should it indicate that they will NEVER draft a QB and develop him.
All it means that it won't likely happen in 2013. Big ****ing deal.

Then more power to them if they are trading back to get a QB next year. Admittedly, I haven't spent any time watching Thomas, Boyd, Bridgewater, or Manziel because I assumed that the Chiefs would draft Geno or Barkley at #1. I can't make a valid opinion on any of those QBs.
