well if they paid him "starter" money at 31 years old it was clearly a move to
A) Block the Raiders
B) they probably contacted Sean Smith's agent and like predicted, Sean Smith's agent is getting teams in a huge bidding war where someone is going to overpay. So Dunta was the backup plan, but they had to act fast and probably rolled out the red carpet for him over the Broncos who my guess, offered less money. Why else would he pick the Chiefs over the team with a SUPER BOWL window? We guaranteed him a starters role with starters money.
And I just dont see him beating Javier Arenas, or even a wildcard like Dequan Menzie or any CB we draft or bring in as a UDFA. I think there will be too much competition at CB for Dunta to craft a role for what they pay him and signed him for. But Dunta clearly was smart enough to know he needs to find a team with holes at CB before FA starts because he would have been washed out by about 20 other CBs signing to rosters and the market would have been saturated.
