What you seem to not quite understand, is that even in the 5th and 6th years, these guys are still learning and adjusting.
take a guy like Charles Woodson as an example, do you think he just stopped learning when he came to the pros? The reason he's been as good as gold since day 1 until now, is because he's ever changing, he lost a step, but he learned how to make up for it. Same goes for the Champ Baileys of the world.
How about Ed Reed? He was god awful in coverage but one hell of a playmaker, he's pretty old now don't you think? Still learning, still refining his play. He got better with age, as do most free safety types.

Oh and all those guys could cover from day 1 in the league until they retired, so awful examples. I said I wanted guys who couldnt cover that got good at it in their thirties and did not regress, and you gave no examples of that.
