If there was a signing bonus, SF ate it when they traded him so it's not going to hit our cap. So if it's just salary, theoretically we could punt him after 2013 without taking any dead money unless he has guaranteed 2014 salary in his deal.
If nothing else, it gives us a little more leverage in the Geno Bluff if we're trying to deal out of 1.1.

the 2012 and 2013 are fully guaranteed salaries after a certain date in that specific league year
but yes we could punt him after this year as his 2014 deal is not guaranteed if say the season is a colossal failure and they are picking in the top 10 and have to go QB or Chase Daniels turns out to be a god.
the biggest fear is if Alex Smith gets them to 9-7 or 10-6 and they give him a 4 or 5 year extension, then you are ****ed.
