Geno doesn't even need to be part of the discussion. The problem isn't that they aren't going to select him, the problem is that they traded for Alex Smith and they're making him "the guy". Don't take a QB this year, that's fine. But don't throw the next 5 years in the crapper while you're doing it, which is what this trade does. It's not an issue with drafting a QB in 2013 with him here now, it's an issue of not drafting a QB at all until he's gone. Not in 2013, or 2014, or 2015. At least for me, the disappointment is the fact that they never learn, and make this move literally over and over and over again and then act surprised when they don't get different results.
But it's certainly indicative of the franchise. I am disappointed, but I'm not surprised in the least. And in fact, to bring the other Smith back into it, despite being one of the bigger Geno fans here, I've also said all along he'd never be drafted as a Chief.
