and like democracy, it can be messy at times... and even unpleasant... and, on occasion, even offensive...

but when it gets too far over the line, that's when the police (moderators) come into play...

phobia understands the difference between moderating and censorship...

autin chief seems to have a very good grasp of the difference...

that understanding and the ability to function in a truly democratic and largly self-limiting and self-policing environment is the primary reason that the planet is so very successful and so wildly popular, imo...

now, not everybody likes that...

now, some would prefer to turn back the clock...

some might be called "reactionaries"... or "old fashioned"... or perhaps just "nostalgic", longing for simpler, cleaner times when folks were always polite and always behaved and always agreed with the man in authority just because he was the man...

is that the planet we want? the planet of harry and ike? the planet of mccarthy and tricky dick? the planet of quiet civility and mild humor? the planet or order & stability?

or do we want the planet of geedubya? the planet of bitiing wit? the planet of controversey and strongly held opinions? the planet of spirited debate and taco, recount, mememe, ernie, t-post tom, go bo and assorted other ass holes that keep you awake and/or piss you off?

if some would like a family atmosphere, let them create a family forum... or a family board... the planet is the planet... it may have been something else at one time, but it isn't whatever this guy wants it to be now...

i may get banned for this, but if the planet is gonna be some tame wussy place liike this guy wants, i might as well get booted now 'cause i'll die of boredom anyway...



p.s. if i'm one of the "select few", i wish someone would just go ahead and "name" me... the suspense is killing me...
