In all honesty, drafting an OT (Joeckel/Fisher) doesn't mean that they are going to see the field anymore than drafting Geno. Albert is definitely going to play and Stephenson has all the tools. (IMO, if Big Don stayed in school this past season, there wouldn't be any Lane Johnson talk at all. Stephenson is a very athletic, big and talented OT. He'd be in the discussion for the top tackle taken this year if he was in this draft class.)
Besides, Smith does have the concussion issue and is 29 years old, and we all know that Daniel is a third string guy. Period.
Drafting Geno gives Reid and Alex Smith the chance to mentor him for one or two years without the pressure of having him produce right from the get go.
Remember this guy named Aaron Rogers who kinda sat behind this other dude for a couple of years and then kicked ass? Same situation.
