I've experienced a lot of suckage rooting for MU and KC sports teams in my life so it would seem pretty acceptable to me to have an NIT bid after a championship.

Just take a little time to head on over to catsillustrated.com - the rivals board for UK. Look through the basketball forum. MU fans think KU fans are the worst? Not even close.
As for me, I'm similar. I'd take a year of struggles with a young team if it meant the prior year was a championship. Honestly, that's what I expected after 2008. But for UK this was just another "greatest recruiting class of all time" that got them knocked out in the first round of the NIT. A lot of them have turned on nearly every member of the team and even Cal has thrown a bunch of them under the bus.
