I have always felt that comments referring to cries for help always come off bad. I know if somebody said it to me like it is phrased here it would piss me off. I think that's part of what Patteeu is getting at. There are probably ways of saying it that don't come off so bad.
Don't get me wrong, I am very sorry that you had to read that comment about your kid. People can say that you can't take stuff on a board serious, but that is a different level. You say you have heard it before, but it doesn't make it right or make me less sympathetic. I honestly suspect that you had your part in the argument escalating, but that doesn't mean the comment was deserved. I can't imagine how that comment could ever possibly be deserved. I just point out that I see where people are coming from with the "get help" comments. Even when well-intentioned, it comes off badly.
