I think 99% of the fanbase just gets rock hard when he comes in throwing gas from the 'pen and they're just aghast by the idea of moving him to the rotation.
But !@#$ me running, the kid was a starter his entire damn career. He has a legitimate 3-pitch arsenal and can actually hit the outside corner with his heat. Hell, he can power it down in the zone and maintain velocity.
It's incredibly rare that you get a kid that can do that with the power that he has, especially with a changeup that gets the armside run that his does.
If nothing else, he absolutely has to be given the chance to fail there first. His value as a starter pitcher could potentially be through the roof. Meanwhile, we're getting dynamite relief work out of Edwards Mujica and if he hasn't been the best closer in the NL this year, Jason !@#$ing Grilli has been.
Closers are much
much easier to find than trained starters that can throw 100 mph with a 3 pitch arsenal.
