I've been in this situation, and believe me, you will not be as ready as you think. The more training you have, the better. The more familiar and comfortable you are with your weapon, the better. So what if the crackhead intruder can't shoot worth a crap? It's not like he's going to be sniping you from across the street. You aren't looking for a fair fight; you're looking to preserve your life and the lives of your family.
