So my gym finally got some heavier kettlebells. Because they didn't have really heavy ones (over 24 kgs), I haven't been really doing a lot of work with kbs over the last few years, sticking instead to traditional olympic lifts and stuff like that while using the kbs for HIIT cardio. I really thought I had probably lost my ability to swing heavy ones.
I grabbed the 32kg today after my set of deadlifts. Let me preface this by saying that 32kg was a pretty daunting snatch for me back in the day. When I picked it up this morning, I though, "Damn. That feels kind of light." So I snatched it... again... and again... and again. It was freaking awesome. I couldn't believe how easy it was compared to a few years back. Next time, I think I'll try to snatch the 40kg.
Moral of the story: traditional lifts are awesome and make you stronger, period. That strength translates across the board.
