I think this is exactly what they're going to do. Reid's traditional offense with less deep passing. Designed to get the ball out of Smith's hands quickly, a lot of touches to Charles and other backs (I still think passes > runs by 6-8/game, following Reid's career pattern; lots of passes to backs...). The downfield game's impacted partly because Smith's unable to go deep, partly because they don't really have a dependable deep threat even if he could (Avery's probably the closest). I think the tight ends will be favorable matchups in the intermediate game, as will Bowe. And I think we may see a lot of McCluster early on, then he'll get cycled out gradually.
