The only stat that matters if you are talking about wether or not the Alex Smith led offense kept the SF defense fresh is time of possession. Who cares about the number of passing first downs? Maybe they stayed out of third and long situations. Who cares about number of third down conversions? If you get a first down with two plays, you don't see as many third downs.
