Peers like him, but don't want to be close friends with him). He's the sweetest, most thoughtful kid in the world, and we're so thankful that part of his genetic abnormality seems to be that he's not overly self conscious about his difference (though his little brother, extremely social and popular, getting invited to play dates constantly bothers him). It's very likely he'll be somewhat dependent on us for the rest of our lives, but it's good to think that isn't a death sentence for my wife and I and may actually be a very pleasant, positive experience as we age.
I can relate...as much as our boy (16 now) will need us forever, we also have this sweet little guy who's always happy to see us and never turns us down when we want to snuggle him up.
