$1000 and up to a year in jail for killing a deer out of season? Holy crap.

I get why people are upset, but it is just a deer, and it's not like that one particular deer was universally known by everyone who might step foot into the cemetery. Pay a fine, sure, but sending someone to jail for shooting a deer is a bit much.
