What QB could we have drafted that would have maximized the players potential on our roster, currently? You said you want a player that our team can grow around, but our team is already grown. What do we do then? DJ, Bowe, Hali, Charles, Albert, and Flowers are already who they will become. Should we just say sorry guys, we are playing for next year, but I want your max effort to save face? It would never fly.
Pioli got us in this rut, where we have high caliber players that deserve for us to take a shot and no QB that has grown with them. We made the right choice by sticking with the vets and giving them the best chance to win now.
It sucks, but most people want to keep quality players and those players have a shelf life. We made a commitment to those players IMO when we signed Smith and I hope it works out.
