What told me Mahomes had "arrived" more than just his greatness on and off the field was how he already had so many haters for the very reasons you just stated. They hate him because hes the best. They still won't give in to his greatness because they were dead frickin wrong on their pre draft analysis of him. They cant admit they are clueless idiots.
