MU has become more popular in-state I think in the last few years, KU has had some competition from KSU becoming a bit more popular than before. Also, JCCC is becoming more of an option for folks wanting a cheaper alternative in this terrible economic environment.


While Mizzou operates in a much larger state, they're only semi-popular across the state. In KCMO they compete with KU and in Springfield, Mo State is big. St Louis itself has SLU and Wash U (for the excellent students). So they have more competition whereas in Kansas it's really a 2-horse race for college.
