It's not surprising if true. Sony knows what a huge cash cow XBL was for M$. A nominal fee 95% of the players don't care about and massive amount of cash for the console makers.
It's also going to be interesting to see how the used games thing plays out. M$ is probably going to keep the DRM on the digital copies and just let discs be discs? One thing is clear, M$ can't afford to have much stricter policies than Sony.
