I would not have expected them to get a raise from CBS for adding Mizzou/TA&M. I don't think the SEC expected it either. Whatever raise they will get, would only be from their previous value being out of date in today's market, MU/TA&M means nothing to CBS.

Why? Because CBS is their tier 1 contract. Tier 1 means games of national relevance that people on the coasts who are college football fans but not necessarily SEC fans might perk up at and watch. We're talking Alabama-Auburn, LSU-Florida, etc.

The value that MU and TA&M would provide to the SEC would come from Tier 2 ESPN contracts, which are for games of regional interest, and perhaps for tier 3 if the SEC ultimately goes the conference network route. We'll have to wait and see if the SEC comes out ahead from adding them due to tier 2, but you can't judge it based on CBS.
Got it. Just heard that CBS only broadcasts 15 SEC games a year. Thought it was more. Makes sense that you wouldn't increase the total for these two schools when it comes to the top slots.
