It's not even the schedule, the coaching, or any other mathematical equation. You can absolutely feel it; the Smith-train has run out of steam. If Alex starts all games next season, there will not be a playoff appearance.

None of these guys were drafted in the first round. Even Teddy Bridgewater (barely 1st rd) and Colin Kaepernick were good QB's.
Not saying to not draft someone in the first rd bc Joe Flacco, Aaron Rodgers and now Ryan Tannehill are good examples of QB's that were "hits".

It shouldn't be "this top 5 guy or nothing".
I know Darnold is a pipe-dream, but if the Chiefs have a lot of picks this year, I'd use those picks to shore-up everything OUTSIDE of the QB spot, and throw in as many chips as I had to for next year's class.
In any event, KC needs to make a move for QB either this season or next.
