The slotting system IS a big win for the smaller markets, because the temporary market inefficiency we exploited was starting to close up on us even as recently as last year.

But what could they have done? Spend more money on their draft picks?
The whole problem was players using other options than signing with small market teams. By overpaying we got the better players to sign. Unless you have some other option the bigmarkets could have done besides overpaying it would of still worked for us. If if they caught on and spent more money.
Now they are set, if the player does not want to play for the royals he can go to college, we cannot change his mind now with more money.
