I understand your point in principle, and can see the logic behind it. However, as with all issues, there's a negotiating strategy where we can help the reasonable teammates by throwing the bad teammates in the fire.

For example, I think we hurt our cause and look unreasonable in the long run if we take stances like....

Those statements put the reasonable divorced guys in the same camp as Hitler and the ESPN goober, which is not a winning strategy. I propose that the strategy should be...

....if you're Hitler or that ESPN guy, you should be wiped out, because you're too stupid and/or evil to be trusted with property. Now if you're Ted over there who's getting divorced, that Ted guy should get to keep his stuff because he earned it and his only mistake is having a wretched wife.
