The mainland is fine just stay out of Tegucigalpa and San Pedro Sula.

I spent over a week on Utila (Roatan's little cousin) - one of the highlights of my trip. I also really enjoyed the Mayan ruins at Copan, Lake Yojoa, and Pico Bonito on the mainland.
