From the standpoint of blockchain technology, I see the underlying tech as having great utility and, therefore, value. But to assign a value to a novel currency--and for that value to have any objective meaning-- is utterly foreign to me.

Isn't that what gold is? Or Money for that matter? After all it's a material item that's perceived to have a functioning value. On the Walking Dead, they don't worry about money.
